I chose to return to school in pursuit of my elementary education degree after being a substitute for the past three years. I have really enjoyed teaching the kids and watching them learn. There excitement they have when they accomplish what was taught to them made a lasting impression on me. I do see that the daily tasks that a teachers has to accomplish is not only a lot of planning and preparing but it is also rewarding. One main factor that I see that is majorly important is sticking to a schedule. As a sub if you stray from this at all the kids know and the day doesn't flow well. As a mom I also see that kids don't have much time to do different art and music activities during the day. One of my goal is to hopefully be able to incorporate this around the lessons that the students need to learn. I believe kids are in need of these functions to help to give the kids a way to be creative and use their imagination. Students that are creative tend to use that in the way they learn and therefore are better students. Being a teacher is something I can't wait to become not only to show my kids that going to college is important but also to make a difference in the lives of the children I will be privileged to teach.
